Pricing and billing

The API is prepaid. You add funds to a workspace balance and each check draws from it. There is no subscription, and one balance covers every model.

Models and prices#

Prices are in US dollars and are also returned, in cents, by GET /models as pricing.unit_amount. A model ID points to its current snapshot. Pass a snapshot ID as model to pin a request. See Text detections for how text is counted.

Free start#

Your first workspace starts with 5 free image or document checks and 5,000 free text characters. One free start per person, and a limited number per company email domain. Disposable email addresses do not receive it. Teammates should join through an invitation. The free start is used before your balance. A free image or document check reports usage.funding: trial and usage.amount: 0. Text characters beyond the free ones are billed normally.

Prepaid balance#

• Add funds in the Console under Balance. The minimum top-up is US$19. Receipts are in the same place.
• When an analysis is created, its price is reserved from the balance. It is settled when the analysis succeeds.
• Failed analyses, canceled analyses, and requests the service rejects before evaluating are not charged. The reserved amount is released.
• When the balance cannot cover a request, the API returns insufficient_balance (HTTP 402).

Test keys never draw from the balance or the free start.

Spend limits#

Each API key can have a monthly spend limit in whole US dollars, reset on the 1st of each month (UTC). Only workspace owners and admins can set or change it. A request that would exceed the limit returns spend_limit_reached and is not charged. See Authentication and keys.

Low-balance alerts and auto-recharge#

• Low-balance alert. Set a threshold in the Console. When the balance falls below it, owners and admins get an email and a balance.low webhook is sent.
• Auto-recharge. Save a card in the Console, then choose a threshold and an amount. When the balance falls below the threshold, the card is charged and the amount is added. If a charge fails or needs confirmation from your bank, auto-recharge turns itself off and owners and admins are emailed.

Balance validity and refunds#

• Validity. The balance stays valid for 12 months after the workspace's most recent top-up, whether it was a manual top-up or an auto-recharge. A top-up extends the validity of the whole balance, not only of the funds just added. Any balance still unused 12 months after the most recent top-up expires.
• Reminder. About 30 days before the expiry date, owners and admins who manage billing get one email stating the amount and the date, and that any top-up extends the validity of the balance. The email is sent once per most recent top-up, and only when the balance is above zero.
• Free start. The free start has no cash value, cannot be transferred or exchanged, and does not expire under this rule.
• Refunds. Top-ups are non-refundable, except where the law requires otherwise or a written agreement says so. Failed checks are not charged, and the reserved amount is released automatically. If Fileverity stops offering paid checks through the Console and API, it refunds any unused balance.
• Ownership. A balance belongs to its workspace and cannot be transferred to another workspace or exchanged for website credits. Credits bought on the website are a separate product with their own terms.

Seeing what was charged#

Each analysis reports usage.amount in cents. Text detections report usage.billed_units and usage.free_characters. The Console shows spending, a usage chart and a CSV export.
