Analysis steps04
- 01Reading file—
- 02Computing SHA-256—
- 03Uploading—
- 04Analyzing pixels and metadata—
Your file is analyzed and then deleted. It is never used for training.
Upload a photo to check it for AI generation, editing traces and embedded credentials. In seconds you get a verdict and the evidence behind it, in a report you can download and verify.
01
How to read your result
Every report answers three separate questions: was the image generated by AI, was a real photo edited locally, and can its source be verified? A Pro analysis adds an authenticity score that shows how strongly the evidence supports an authentic, unedited capture.
- 01 / 04
Likely AI-generated
The pixels, a watermark or the file's own credentials indicate that a generative model produced or re-rendered the image.
- 02 / 04
No signs of AI generation
Nothing in the pixels or metadata points to AI generation. Combine this with the editing check and the source of the image.
- 03 / 04
Inconclusive
The signals are weak or contradict each other. Request the original file or run a full Pro analysis before you decide.
- 04 / 04
Editing check
Separately from AI generation, the check looks for locally edited regions and for editing-software history recorded in the file.

Frequently asked questions
Q01How can I tell if an image is AI-generated?
Upload it to an AI image detector such as Fileverity Quick Check. It analyzes the pixels for traces left by generative models and reads any Content Credentials or AI labels in the file, then shows a verdict with the evidence behind it.
Q02Is this AI image detector free?
Yes. A free account includes three Quick Checks and one full Pro analysis. Pro plans add our newest detection models, generator identification, a forensic search for edits, a risk level with a recommended action, and the API.
Q03Can it tell if a photo was edited or photoshopped?
Yes, within limits. Quick Check flags obvious local edits and any editing software recorded in the file, and marks suspicious areas on a heatmap. Careful retouching can get past a quick screening. A Pro analysis searches the full-resolution image and marks each edited region.
Q04What happens to the image I upload?
It is analyzed and then deleted. Fileverity keeps no copy of the image and never uses uploaded files to train models.
Q05Can an AI image detector be wrong?
Yes. Any automated detector can be wrong, which is why Fileverity shows the evidence, an authenticity score and how much the file allows it to establish, instead of a bare yes or no. For decisions with real consequences, use a Pro report and human review.
Q06Which files can I check?
JPEG, PNG and WebP images up to 10 MB and 40 megapixels. Upload the original file when you can, because screenshots and recompressed copies lose evidence such as metadata and credentials.
